Only one day after news of Rafael Nadal’s wedding with Xisca Perello broke in Spanish press, the tennis star was swamped by press at his home.
Speaking in his hometown of Porto Cristo in Mallorca, he did not appear to be impressed.
“I’m not saying anything, it’s already annoyed me that the wedding has come out in the press – you want me to ask about the wedding, right?’ Nadal raged.
“I understand you have you work to do, but I’m not saying anything.”
Given that he is missing the Open 500 in Beijing, it could be likely that the 17-time Grand Slam winner could get married in September.
Of the so-called ‘big four’ – along with Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Roger Federer – he is the last to marry and the only one yet to become a father.
Perello has been with Nadal for 14 years and runs projects for the Rafa Nadal Foundation.
