Not sure if there’s anything left on earth for Floyd Mayweather Jr. to pine for. From a billion-dollar fortune to a boxing legacy yet to meet its parallel, Mayweather has gone way beyond the proverbial American Dream. A proud father to five, Mayweather added one more feather to his cap when he became a grandfather to Kentrell Jr. in 2021. His daughter, Iyana, was twenty-one when she gave birth to rapper NBA Young’s child.
Invited by hip-hop and rap-centered podcast Daily Loud, Floyd Mayweather spoke at length about the new addition to his pride sometime in February this year. The hosts quizzed The Money about the change in his familial status. Probably a curiosity about the personal life of the best defensive boxer in history.
Welcoming the question, Mayweather then explained how he was proud of his daughter Yaya despite being just twenty-one, probably an age too early for motherhood. Proceeding further, he exhibited an understanding of his grandchild’s father, NBA YoungBoy, “I’m proud of her I’m proud of NBA young boy um very very talented uh young kid um one of the biggest artists… I Like him, you know just like my just like one of my sons; look at him just like one of my sons…”
At the same, he couldn’t hide a fatherly concern when he wished for the safety of YoungBoy—citing examples of instances where young musicians went out of control resulting in most uncalled-for fatalities.
He chuckled on narrating his grandson’s habit of holding on to him throughout the day, just like Yaya used to when she was a toddler.
The fans saw Floyd Mayweather, their champion par excellence, in different colors and hues. Scion of an illustrious boxing family, it was but natural for Mayweather junior to take up the gloves.

A troubled childhood probably fanned that conspicuous hunger to achieve the best for himself and his family. Nevertheless, he won the Featherweight bronze at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996 and marched on a professional journey by October.
The first victim of the Mayweather juggernaut was Roberto Apodaca. In a career lasting two decades, Mayweather faced quite a few big names. But none had the answers to Mayweather’s methodical and patient slaughter inside the ring. The Money ended his career at forty with a flawless record.
Born Iyanna Mayweather on 20th May 2000, Yaya Mayweather wanted to be a rapper. She released a song titled Oh Okay Remix some four years ago. Mayweather and Yaya reportedly share a very close bond, with the Daddy spoiling his pet child with lavish gifts.
She has been in an on-off relationship with rapper Kentrell DeSean Gaulden or, more popularly, NBA YoungBoy since 2018.
Now happily retired for good, Floyd Mayweather has embarked on an equally well-acclaimed exhibition circuit. The most recent one was against British YouTuber Deji Olatunji in Dubai’s Coca-Cola arena on 13th November this year.
